George Taxidis
I initially trained as an integrative counsellor (MSc Therapeutic Counselling, Greenwich University), which means that I was introduced to a range of therapeutic approaches.
I subsequently engaged in many Continuing Professional Development activities and increasingly found that I was drawn to the Jungian approach. I embarked on the long and rigorous training in Jungian analysis with the British Jungian Analytic Association (BJAA, which is part of the British Psychotherapy Foundation, BPF), which also included a parent-infant observation study, and supervised, intensive, long-term analytic psychotherapy (three times per week). My final paper for this training won the Lady Balogh Award.
I have worked in a variety of therapeutic settings, including a Mind counselling service, a specialist service for problem gamblers, a university counselling service and an NHS psychotherapy service for patients with complex or multiple diagnoses. I have a particular interest in dreams, and have been involved in Social Dreaming Matrix facilitation for many years.
I have also been involved in training therapists, mainly at Goldsmiths, University of London, but also at other psychoanalytic or Jungian training organisations. See the section on writing and speaking.
I am a member of the following professional bodies:
Finally, I studied Carl Jung's Red Book with the Circle of Analytical Psychology.
